Welcome, New Zealand Herald Readers!

If you picked up a copy of the Business Section of today’s New Zealand Herald, you may well have read about us.

And if so, we want to welcome you to our humble corner of cyberspace!

In the article, journalist Gill South writes about SeriouslyBoard and modern board games.

If your only experience to date of board games is with those you grew up with – Monopoly, Cluedo, Scrabble, and the like – we highly recommend you look at great games like The Settlers Of Catan, Ticket To Ride, or Dominion.

They’re less based on luck, rewarding players for applying good strategy instead – and they’re a great way to spend an evening with family and friends over dinner or a glass of wine.

If you’re a SKY TV subscriber, you may have seen the mini-series The Pillars Of The Earth, and we’ve got some great specials on the board games based on that line of work.

You may have also seen mention of Board Games By The Bay, a series of board gaming events that we run annually in Auckland, Tauranga, and Hamilton. We’d love to see you there, even if you’re completely new to the notion of modern board games!

The events are great for singles, couples, and families alike, with prizes on offer and a heap of games to learn and play.

So whether you’re a board gaming rookie or veteran, we hope you’ll join us!

Hi there. I have devised a game,, the NEW 7 Wonders of the World, which is being developed as an app for iPad, Mac and PC by Metia Interactive. This week we are looking at ways to market it – on the web, Facebook, etc etc. It has not been a board game as such but I would also like it to be, as this is how I originally envisaged and worked on it. It would be great to have the opportunity of meeting with you, showing you my game, seeing if it is of any interest to you. Maybe I should come to your St Heliers weekend. Do get back to me when you have the time. Regards Michael Gifford

Hi Michael, good to hear from you – and the team is looking forward to seeing you at Board Games by the Bay in St Heliers later this month. There will be a few board game publishers around too, so you’d have a chance to meet them and see what happens.

I did read the article. I am all kinds of excited to have such a store available in New Zealand, and at such good prices. I’ll almost certainly be purchasing from here in the future.

Hi Nic, great stuff – we’ll be here for you when it’s time for a new game. You might want to jump on the mailing list (see the sign-up on the homepage and sidebars) as we offer regular discounts there.

And hopefully we’ll see you at a Board Games by the Bay later this year.
