Community Events Continue To Grow
New Zealand’s only board gaming road show has continued to grow in the wake of the first Board Games By The Bay event for 2014.
Almost 200 gamers packed into the Auckland Bridge Club in Remuera, with 20 hours of gaming, prizes, discounted titles on sale, and what every gamer needs to fuel their strategy: good grub!
One word reviews from attendees included “adventurous”, “board-tastic”, and “community”, although the vast majority simply said “awesome”.
Organised events included:
- New Zealand’s largest live math trade, featuring 97 lots and 41 successful trades!
- An exhibition game of chess clock Jenga on the big screen!
- BGBTB regular Two Rooms And A Boom on Saturday evening, featuring two brilliant “bomb” timers to give gamers more bang for their buck!
In addition to these, and the usual giveaways, flag system to assist gamers, and “just for fun” achievements, gamers made use of an extensive game library to get their game on for 20 hours over 2 days.
From an organisational point of view, the BGBTB have sharpened their act significantly, with a much smoother start to Saturday morning as the doors were flung open, and a streamlined process for organising the Saturday dinner meal for attendees.
And we’re just getting started. With future events in Hamilton (August 30-31) followed by a return to Auckland (November 22-23), there are still opportunities to get your game on.
Tickets can be purchased here. Take a look at the gallery below to see why you don’t want to miss the next one!
A huge thank you to BGBTB sponsors: SeriouslyBoard, PixelPark, Treefrog Games, SchilMil Games, and Geek And Sundry.
