Board Games By The Bay signed off for 2013 in emphatic fashion, with 170+ gamers attending the final Auckland event on the weekend of November 23-24.
With previous events being held in Tauranga, Auckland, Hamilton, and Palmerston North, this meant more than 500 gamers have attended BGBTB weekends since March.
As Board Games By The Bay continues to grow in attendance, the scale of the prize table has similarly increased – and gamers now have more options than ever.
In addition to what has now become the standard – a massive gaming library, games for sale at below internet prices, lunch and dinner options, and heaps of prizes – our 2013 events also saw a giant math trade, huge social games of Two Rooms And A Boom, and Android: Netrunner and Star Wars: X-Wing tournaments.
Gamers were keen to get going in Auckland, with the diehards waiting outside long before the doors opened. The venue quickly became packed and tables were at a premium. The upstairs room held Android: Netrunner and Star Wars: X-Wing tournaments across the weekend, and a record haul of games was given away to all and sundry.
How Netrunner went down, as told by tournament runner up, Donald Bubbins.
How X-Wing went down, as told by tournament officiator, Jody Nixon.
Attendees also took part in a pirate-themed meta game on the Saturday, as well as large social games of Two Rooms And A Boom.
We’re already looking forward to 2014, but until then, a collection of photos from the Auckland November event can be seen below…
