It’s the dawning of a new age in the land of Ethnos. The last rulers left the six Kingdoms without leadership and scattered the twelve ancient tribes across the land. In Ethnos, players call upon the support of giants, merfolk, halflings, minotaurs, and other fantasy tribes to help them gain control of the land. After three ages of play, whoever has collected the most glory wins!

In Ethnos, players will recruit different Tribe cards into their hands, band them together, and play them to gain control of one of the six Kingdoms over the course of three Ages. Each Band can have a Leader, and only the Leaders can tap into their tribe’s special abilities. After three Ages of political maneuvering and battles, peace between the six Kingdoms will be restored under a new ruler.

Get cards, play sets, added a control marker to an area, do the special action on the card and whoever has the most control in an area at the end of a turn gets points for it. Simple, clean, it works very well.

This game reminds me of Century: Spice Road/Golem, not in its mechanics but in the way that turns fly so fast; the game doesn’t play itself, you have 1 of 2 actions on your turn, draw a card or play a set of cards. Once you get into a rhythm it moves at a very good click.

Some people have a problem with the muted artwork but this is a pleasant, intuitive hand management/area control game.

I really dig this game. I think it it the gamers version of ticket to ride. more variety as you only select 6 tribe card sets each game out about 12 so each game is different. plays quick and is really good at 6 player which many other games are too long and drawn out for that player count. I think it deserves more praise than it gets.
