Celestia is a blast! Very light but at the same-time very engaging. If you are after a competitive push-your-luck style game and don’t mind a little bit of chaos, this is definitely a fun one that is worth a solid look.

A common comparison is to Incan Gold/Diamant; while both a solid games Incan/Diamant feel more dry and mathy, there is a lot less luck involved in such a way that I would compare it to Blackjack; you know much of the elements and you are playing off of known odds.Celestia, meanwhile, is more swingy, but in a game of this nature it feels more engaging, sociable and well… fun.

It is not complete randomness though, you can see how many cards each player is holding, you know how many dice are going to be rolled, you know what they didn’t have in their hand during the last run and you know when you’re going to be the captain and cannot bail. Beyond a superficial glance there is a lot of information you can track and make intuitive guesses at beyond the final gamble.

…and then you get to the final, simple question, should I stay or should I go?

Without a shadow of a doubt my favourite push-your-luck game 🙂
