Arboretum is one of my new favourite games. I’d recommend it if you’ve been enjoying Lost Cities and are looking for a bit of a step up.
The only thing taking a star off is that it can be a bit hard to explain. There are some really specific rules that need to be there, but can be difficult to remember for a new player (ie having a 1 in you hand cancels out someone else’s 8). That said, as soon as you get your head around how it works, it’s one that you’ll revisit again and again. It’s full of those agonizing choices that I’ve also found in Lost Cities- so much you need to do, but every play and discard feels like it could be an amazing or terrible decision.
