Players take on the role of medieval rulers and compete with each other to build the greatest city as they each take on a different role each turn, giving them different unique bonuses in this great teaser card game.

In Citadels, the Assassin, Thief, Magician, King, Bishop, Merchant, Architect and Warlord are all competing to create the most valuable city by expanding it with new districts.

The roles change each turn, granting bonuses to the respective players as they seek to build a greater city than their opponents while employing diplomacy and bluffing.

Citadels ends when the first player completes their eighth district, and the player with the highest total value wins.
